How to Install Your Nylon Watch Strap

How to Install Your Nylon Watch Strap

Installing a single-pass or double-pass nylon strap is simple and requires no tools, as long as your watch already has spring bars installed. Follow the steps below to ensure a secure, comfortable fit.

Before You Start

  • Make sure your watch has spring bars installed between the lugs
  • Place your watch face down on a soft surface to avoid scratches
  • Identify which strap style you have: single-pass or double-pass

Installing a Single-Pass Strap

Single-pass straps run under the watch case using one continuous layer of nylon. This creates a clean, low-profile fit on the wrist.

Steps:

  1. Hold the watch face down.
  2. Insert the strap between the top spring bar and the watch case.
  3. Pull the strap through until the buckle sits centered beneath the watch.
  4. Thread the strap between the bottom spring bar and the case.
  5. Pull the strap all the way through.
  6. Place the watch on your wrist, insert the strap through the buckle, and adjust for comfort.
  7. Tuck any excess strap length into the keeper(s).

Tip: The buckle should sit slightly off-center on the wrist for the most comfortable fit.

Installing a Double-Pass Strap (Military-Inspired)

Double-pass straps add an extra layer of security by looping back under the watch case.

Steps:

  1. Hold the watch face down.
  2. Insert the long end of the strap between the top spring bar and the watch case.
  3. Pull the strap through until the watch sits near the middle of the strap.
  4. Thread the strap between the bottom spring bar and the case.
  5. Pull the strap all the way through.
  6. Feed the long end of the strap through the metal loop on the shorter secondary strap.
  7. Place the watch on your wrist.
  8. Thread the strap through the buckle and adjust for a snug, comfortable fit.
  9. Tuck any excess strap length into the keepers.

Note: The secondary strap should sit directly under the watch case once installed.

For Thicker Straps or Tight Clearances

If your watch has limited space between the spring bars and the case:

  • Remove the spring bars
  • Position the strap first
  • Reinstall the spring bars over the strap

This method makes installation easier and helps prevent unnecessary wear.

Proper Fit & Adjustment

A properly installed strap should:

  • Sit flat against the wrist
  • Feel secure without pinching
  • Allow excess strap length to be neatly tucked
  • Keep the watch centered on your wrist

If the strap feels too tight or too loose, simply re-adjust through the buckle until comfortable.
